Astigmatism

Book Appointment

Astigmatism is a common eye condition caused when the clear surface that covers the pupil and iris, known as the cornea, is abnormally curved. Blurred vision when looking at objects at a range of distances is among the most common symptoms of astigmatism, although sufferers also often experience eye strain, eye fatigue or headaches as well.
Many people suffer from astigmatism on some level, and the condition is routinely uncovered during a thorough eye exam. Genetics, how much pressure the eyelids place on the cornea and how the eye develops and grows all play a role in how severe astigmatism proves to be. If your eye doctor determines you’re affected by astigmatism, he or she will likely recommend glasses, contact lenses or eye therapy.
